Before The Trading System

This page is 100% about what Jamaa was like before the trading system.

The trading system came in March 2011. But what about before then? Maybe you didn't play AJ then- in that case, you might actually be lucky. Before the trading system, we traded with Jam-a-Grams. So basically, you made a deal with someone, saying that if you sent a specific item to them, they would send a specific item to you. The problem with this, is that someone had to go first. Then, the second person had your item, and they could just run away with it without doing their part of the deal. Jammers called that scamming. Then they would run away before you could Report them. Note that this was before you could search a Jammers username.

Another problem with Jam-a-Gram trading was that you couldn't send den items in a Jam-a-Grams, making it impossible to trade den items. That is why there are so few of some early den items- people didn't stock up on them because they new even if they were extremely rare they couldn't trade them.

The reason I know so much about this topic is because I've played Animal Jam since November 2010. I remember trading with Jam-a-Grams. I remember getting scammed- a LOT. The wierd thing is, I specifically remember getting scammed the very day before the trading system came out... :P

Well, I hope this page was usefull to you! Thank AJHQ for the trading system-it really helped AJ become the amazing game it is today!

Jam On!

  1. I was pretty much never with trading back then, I'd wander around. When people said trading I thought they where being silly and ignored them. Then the Jamaa Journal came out pronouncing trading and I felt extremely stupid because everyone was trading and I thought I never knew! (But of course, I was wrong)
